I Can Feel Good: DBT-informed Skills Training for People with Intellectual Disabilities and Problems Managing Emotions

Sarah Ashworth and Natalie Brotherton and Bridget Ingamells and Catrin Morrissey

Overview

'I Can Feel Good' is a unique resource that enables practitioners to deliver DBT-informed skills training to people with mild to borderline intellectual disabilities whose lives are impacted by problems managing and regulating emotions. The programme is designed for delivery in a group setting, but can be adapted easily for individual intervention. The manual offers guidance on staff training and course evaluation, and includes additional resources such as mindfulness exercises, worksheets and role plays to increase the ease of group facilitation. These resources are included both in the hard copy and online. The second edition has been updated to incorporate new skills adapted for use with an intellectual disability population.
