The black cat is one of Allan Poe's sinister stories, his great psychological stories are immersed in the work. The combination of both elements, horror and psychology, seems to lead directly to the expression of psychological terror, with the artistic uniqueness of this author and that could be defined as that literary technique that aspires to combine fear, alienation and art in a superior synthesis. Leaving aside the autobiographical and superstitious content for the moment, there are three main themes that its author developed in "The Black Cat", and the three are closely related to each other. It is about a young couple who lead a homey and peaceful life with their cat, until the young man begins to get carried away by drink, the alcohol becomes irritable and in one of his outbursts of fury he ends the life of the animal. A second cat appears on the scene and the family situation begins to weaken. A fire breaks out in the house and ends in a horrible denouement.
