This is Poe's classic story of the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition. A French Soldier is sentenced to death and placed in a dark cell in the dungeons. His captors bind him to a table in his cell and subject him to several horrors including: a pit in the center of his cell from which hordes of rats emerge and crawl over him; a razor sharp pendulum lowering inch by inch with every swing, over his bound body; and, when he finally escapes his bindings, heated walls that move inward and attempt to force him to fall to his death in the pit of rats. ------ READ-ALONG RADIO DRAMA KITS are literature units for the reading and language arts classrooms.
