Born and raised in Massachusetts in 1830, she lived much of her life in isolation from others and is believed to have suffered from depression.<br/><br/>Louisa May Alcott, best known for her novel Little Women, was born in Pennsylvania in 1832. Her poetry can be best classified as part of the American Romantic movement for its focus on the themes of the frontier, self-reliance, and spiritual transcendence.<br/><br/>Elizabeth Barrett Browning may well be the most well-known of the British female Romantic poets. Having grown up in the northeast of England in the early 1800’s, she expressed her love for the countryside in certain of her poems, although many more of them are believed to be devoted her husband and fellow poet, Robert Browning.<br/><br/>Born in 1771, Dorothy Wordsworth lived the majority of her life in the northwest of England with her brother and fellow Romantic poet, William Wordsworth. Overshadowed by the great works of her brother, Dorothy Wordsworth’s poetry has often been overlooked by academics and poetry lovers alike.<br/><br/>Let your heart sing as your love of poetry comes to life with these great poems!
