Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Overview

Product Description

An extremely political book, The Possessed is a testimonial of life in Imperial Russia in the late 19th century. Dostoyevsky casts a critical eye on both the left-wing idealists, portraying their ideas and ideological foundation as demonic, and the conservative establishment's ineptitude in dealing with those ideas and their social consequences.

About the Author

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (11 November 1821 – 9 February 1881), sometimes transliterated Dostoevsky, was a Russian novelist, short story writer, and essayist. Dostoyevsky's literary works explore human psychology in the troubled political, social and spiritual context of 19th-century Russia. His cannon consists of eleven novels, three novellas, seventeen short novels and three essays, and has been judged by many literary critics to be one of the greatest and most prominent psychologists in world literature.
