Overview

Emma Woodhouse is beautiful, clever, rich... and spoiled. Blind to the dangers of meddling in other people's lives, she badly overestimates her matchmaking abilities. Emma attempts to remake her friend Harriet Smith - a young woman of unknown parentage - in her own image. Ignoring the gaping difference in their fortunes and stations in life, Emma convinces herself and her friend, that Harriet should look as high as Emma herself might for a husband. The result is misconstrued romance as her fantastically misguided schemes surge out of control.
