Perhaps the most controversial of Jane Austen's novels, Mansfield Park is also her most socially realistic work. Fanny Price, a girl from a poor family, is sent to live with rich relations. From her somewhat lesser status, she observes the complex interactions between members and friends of the large and fractious Bertram family. Part novel of manners, part social satire, Mansfield Park is an intriguing and thought-provoking book with themes that are still relevent to today's world.
