When Anne Elliot was 19 her father and older sister thwarted her romance with Fredric Wentworth because he wasn't well off. As the years went on Anne's family falls on tough time forced to rent out Kellynch. Never forgetting Wentworth fate intervenes for Anne as Wentworth's sister moves into Kellynch with her husband the retired Admril Croft.
