Pride and Prejudice

It's a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. So opens Pride and Prejudice, a masterpiece by Jane Austen. The opening sentence rightly sets the theme for the entire novel as finding the suitablie (and the right partner) and setting down to a harmonious home by the young and specially the major characters. The Pride and Prejudice depicts the English society of the times. It presents a realistic portrayal of the norms, as romantic attitudes related to love and marriage.
