Foreword
Deconstruction Zone™ is a culturally based personal development system designed to lead us to a more permanent state of Self-Worth 2.0.

Deconstruction Zone is an exploration of our own personal cultures, histories, and identities, where we look at the stories, we’ve been told about ourselves, and the narratives we’ve believed about ourselves. We turn the concept of Social Determinants of Health on its head, and upside down, by bringing out the talent in each person, increasing self-awareness, and participating in a unique process of unlearning, created to help us develop a new narrative along the way.

What we get from Deconstruction Zone
The Deconstruction Zone is created to reintroduce ourselves to ourselves. In this book, we take a deep look at the complex, often chaotic mazes we scramble to get through in life and untangle the drama and trauma which often keeps us from achieving our greatest hopes and dreams.
Deconstruction Zone is a personal and business development system, written as a mind maze, and heart obstacle course, designed to:
1) Explore our own histories
2) Become aware of the people, places, and things, we plug into and hook up to
3) Unravel our own, often tricky webs
4) Learn the benefits of minding our own business - and reconsider what our own business could be, and is
5) Achieve our own goals and dreams

During our adventure, we will gain the protection we need from danger and harm, but unlike the Ojibwe Dreamcatcher, which is designed to hold that which it comes in contact, the Deconstruction Zone is created to help us release unwanted baggage, transform trauma into triumph, and allow us to rest into our own purpose, passion, and peace.

Ways to read this book
One way to experience this book most fully is to gather with persons different than ourselves, break bread together, laugh, learn, sing, study, answer the questions in this book, and just be present with one another. Another way to use this book is to write a reflection from each question prompt. Feel free to express your thoughts through journaling, a regular self-care practice we support.

Talent-Informed Lens™
While the authors of this book recognize the importance of viewing ourselves through a trauma-informed lens, when necessary, the Deconstruction Zone invites us to also adopt a talent-informed lens,™ as a constant point of reference which shouts, I can!
For we believe:
· Trauma is meant to be temporary.
· Talent is meant for eternity.
· Trauma stops by to show us who we are.
· Talent stays to show us who we want to be.

From See me! to I see!
And finally, after understanding, It’s what I tell myself that determines how I see myself, we get to leave behind the unhelpful lens of See Me! for a brand-new narrative of I See!

The Authors
A godparent and godson create the Ultimate Dreamcatcher: One is Black. One is multi-racial. One grew up in da streets. One grew up in a middle-class home. One is straight. One is gay. One is older. One is youner. One voted Democrat. One voted Republican.

Deconstruction Zone: From See me! to I see!
