Inner Harbor (Chesapeake Bay Series)

Nora Roberts

Overview

Product Description Phillip's brothers, Cameron and Ethan, are now happily married. The family boat building business is starting to thrive. And the Quinns are closer than ever to keeping Seth permanently protected from his errant mother who would sell her own son rather than loving him the way the Quinns do.Phillip Quinn understands Seth's troubled past. He has the scars from his own rough and tumble childhood on the streets of Boston. He spent his days stealing and his nights doing anything to make a fast buck. Now he's a high-powered advertising executive who favors Armani suits and rare wines. When he meets educated, cultured Sybill, he figures he's found his perfect match. And when he discovers she has a family connection to young Seth, they join forces to secure the boy's future. From Library Journal Cam was the speed-chasing playboy and Ethan the taciturn waterman. But former street hustler Philip Quinn was the stylish city dweller who took one look at Dr. Sybill Griffin and fell hard. Sybill made her mark in observational psychology, always ten paces back from the action. This time Philip wont let her avoid the fray. He finds Sybill attractive in ways he refuses to admit. When her relationship to his brother Seth is uncovered, Philip must reconcile his needs and hers with those of Seth. This final novel in the Quinn Brothers trilogy is equally as strong as the prior two (e.g., Rising Tides, Audio Reviews, LJ 11/1/98). Guy Lemonier is terrific at vocalizing Philip and particularly Sybill, whose cold, unemotional facade gives frosty new meaning. Roberts is at her best here, from the multifaceted characterizations to the carefully crafted plot twists. This, and the other titles in the series, are excellent additions to fiction collections.Jodi L. Israel, Jamaica Plain, MACopyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc. About the Author Nora Roberts is the number-one New York Times-bestselling author of more than 190 novels, including The Search, Black Hills, Tribute, High Noon, and many more. She is also the author of the bestselling futuristic suspense series written under the pen name J.D. Robb. Roberts has more than 400 million copies of her books in print. From AudioFile The conclusion of the Quinn Brothers trilogy resolves the mystery of Seth Quinn's birth and the love life of his brother, Phillip. Unlike the first two books, Inner Harbor requires some knowledge of the story line preceding it to understand the plot. Guy Lemonier's understated reading cannot match David Stuart's performance of the first two installments. While Stuart gave each Quinn brother a distinct aural personality, Lemonier merely reads their dialogue. His interpretation of the steamy love scenes between Phillip and Sybill inspires more embarrassment than passion, as does his portrayal of the feisty female characters in the story. If you haven't heard Stuart's performances, Lemonier's reading might be less disappointing. In either event, it falls far short of satisfaction. R.P.L. (c) AudioFile, Portland, Maine
