The Longest Lent: Saying 'Yes' after a year of 'No'

Daniel Hawkins and Melissa Turkett and Katie Newkirk and Scott Goodfellow and Meg Witmer-Faile

Overview

As we approach Lent 2021, we do so after what could easily be categorized as the world's longest Lent, a year of 'No.' While I am thankful for what has been our consistent and often faith-filled 'No,' I believe that this Lent is a time for us to offer a consistent and faith-filled 'Yes.' In the pages of 'The Longest Lent,' you will be invited to explore, reflect and embody a series of faith-filled 'Yes's.' Saying 'Yes' to Sabbath... after a year of lockdownSaying 'Yes' to healing and wholeness: body, mind and spiritSaying 'Yes' to Praying... for our enemiesSaying 'Yes' to Reading the Bible... between the lines Saying 'Yes' to Restoring... relationships with othersSaying 'Yes' to entering the storyThese 'Yes's' aren't intended to take us back to where we were on March 12, 2020. That option doesn't exist for us. When we say 'Yes' in the days to come, we are saying 'Yes' to Christ and preparing ourselves for the new beginning Christ is bringing out of this year of 'No.'
