A man is driven to murder by the "evil eye" of the old man for whom he works. For several nights he looks in on the old man, but each night he finds the eye closed. On the eighth night he finds the eye wide open and staring. Driven to madness, he murders the old man and disposes the cut-up corpse under the floor boards of the old man's bedroom. The next morning, the police come to investigate a scream heard by a neighbor, the murderer brings them into the bedroom and visits with them. Soon, the murderer insanely imagines that he can hear the beating of the old man's heart and becomes convinced that the police also hear it. Panic overcomes him, and he confesses, telling the police to rip up the floor boards. <P>READ-ALONG RADIO DRAMA KITS are literature units for the reading and language arts classroom.
