Emma
Details
Widely regarded to be the finest romantic comedy ever written, Emma tells the story of a beautiful, clever and rich young woman who believes herself to be a natural match-maker. Unfortunately, Emma’s plans to arrange a suitable match for her illegitimate friend Harriet Smith quickly falls apart amidst a series of intrigues and comic misunderstandings about who is love with whom. The result is a wonderfully witty and satirical novel which has delighted readers since its first publication in 1815. Although suitable for every reader, this edition of Bronte’s classic novel is particularly suitable for pupils studying Jane Eyre as part of their Common Core English Literature curriculum at High School. Here, the larger format and wider margins provide valuable extra space for students (and teachers) to add their own explanatory notes, points of comparison and issues for discussion or further thought.
