info Details

Excerpt from The Fitch Atlas of Railroad Mortgage Maps
This, the second edition of the Fitch Atlas of Railroad Mort gage Maps, is made in loose leaf formoto facilitate revision. As revised or additional maps are issued they will be inserted in place of the maps which they supersede. In this way the book will be always up - to - date.
As compared with the first edition, the new book shows not only the position of each mortgage upon the railroad's lines, but the relation of each mortgage to the other mortgages on those lines. The first or underlying lien is, in most cases, indicated by a black or heavy symbol, the other mortgages, junior thereto, following from. The black symbols as 2d, 3d, 4th, etc. In cases where a general mortgage (not indicated by a black symbol) is a first lien on portions of the line, it is shown in the lowest posi tion, other mortgages junior to it having their symbols super imposed upon it. The rule is therefore to read from the bottom up, the first lien being shown under the others.
The Fitch Atlas presents in this manner every mortgage on all of the important steam railroads in the United States.
Collateral liens are shown as a direct lien where they are se cured by the deposit of the entire issue of the bonds which are actually the direct lien upon the property. Such collateral liens are in effect a direct lien. Collateral liens Secured by the deposit of part of a bond issue or by the deposit of stock are not shown on the maps at all, but the security is indicated in the text.
For detailed description of each bond issue shown in these maps the user is referred to the Fitch Bond Book.
About the Publisher
Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
