Frank Lewis Dyer was a lawyer and business man who helped Thomas Alva Edison with his corporate and legal affairs. Dyer began helping the inventor with his patents in 1897, but soon took charge of all of the geniuss legal business. Frank also co-authored Edisons biography with Thomas Martin. Martin was an electric engineer as well as an editor. The two authors collaborated with Edison, so the book is very accurate.
